Sreenagar Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd (IBBL) was inaugurated as its 204th branch at Sheikh Market, Sreenagar, Munshiganj on Sunday.
Md. Shahidul Islam, Chairman of Audit Committee of IBBL inaugurated the branch as the Chief Guest.
Mohd. Shamsul Haque, Deputy Managing Director of the bank presided over the inaugural programme which was addressed by Belayet Hossain Dhali, Chairman of Sreenagar Upazila Parishad and Syed Shah Alam, Senior Vice Chairman of Aram-Bhagyokul Paribahan Ltd as special guests.
The programme was also addressed by Md. Nazibur Rahman, Executive Vice President and Head of Dhaka South Zone of the bank and Md. Abdun Nayem Belal, Manager of Sreenagar Branch, local elite Bizoy Chakraborty, President of Sreenagar Bazar Committee, Selim Hossain Khan, Chairman of Bisram Paribahan, Businessman S.M. Harunur Rashid and Md. Zahangir Khan, Headmaster of Kamargaon Ideal Girls’ High school.
Shahidul Islam in his speech said, IBBL has been giving modern banking services by establishing largest online network, this effort will be continued.
He said, for the faith of the 15 crore people of this country, IBBL has continued the position of top bank of the country in deposit, investment and foreign trade and more than 25 per cent of the remittance is earned by the Bank.
This Bank has been working for making the poor people self reliant through Rural Development Scheme alongside its banking activities. He called upon the women entrepreneurs to take Banking services besides general businessmen.
Mohd. Shamsul Haque in his presidential speech said, IBBL is the first interest free bank of the country. IBBL was established with a view to free the nation from the bad effect of interest and establish Islamic Economics. He called upon the people of Sreenagar to receive the concept of Islamic Banking and do banking with Islami Bank.
On the occasion of inauguration of Sreenagar Branch as the 204th branch of the Bank a seminar on ‘Islamic Economics and Banking’ was organised on Saturday at the branch premises.
Moulana Abdus Samad, Member of Shari’ah Council of the bank addressed the seminar as chief discussant.
Mohd. Shamsul Haque, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank presided over the seminar which was addressed by Prof. A.B.M. Fazlul Karim, Head of BangIa Department of Abu-Dhar Gifari University College, Dhaka, and former Senate Member of Dhaka University, Moulana Md. Rezaul Bari, Khatib of Sreenagar Central Mosque, and Moulana Md. Saifulla, Chairman of Tanshir Group and Md. Nazibur Rahman, Executive Vice President and Head of Dhaka South Zone of the bank.
