Allegation of irregularities has been brought against the principal of Rasulpur Batena Alim Madrasa under Garazia upazila in the district.

The allegation of irregularities was placed before the newsmen at a press conference held at a restaurant in the town on November 1.

Dr. Fazlul Huq, Bengali teacher of the madrasa, read out a statement containing the irregularities.
The statement said that the principal of the madrasa misappropriated a good amount of money from the madrasa fund in different times in the period he held the post. The statement alleged that the principal promoted students to next class by taking bribes and forced them to get admitted to Alim class in the madrasa against their will. The principal forced them to get admission to the madrasa by not issuing them mark sheets. The most heinous act of the principal is that he compelled the madrasda students to sing Islami song, in place of national anthem at the assembly.

The strange thing was that he assaulted Bengali teacher Dr. Fazlur Rahman for protesting the irregularities by the principal. The statement said that the students continued boycotting classes in protest against the assault of the teacher. The teachers and students of the madrasa submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner through the Nirbahi Officer of Gazaria upazila demanding inquiry into the irregularities and punishment to the principal accordingly.
