Schoolboy killed under bus at Kakrail

A six-year old student of Wills Little Flower School was crushed to death under the wheel of a bus in front of the school at Kakrail in Dhaka Wednesday morning.

The dead boy, Hamim Sheikh, was a kindergarten student at the Bangla medium section of the school.

He was the only child of Sonia and Motaleb Sheikh. The family resided at Suritola in Sutrapur; their village home is in Munshiganj.

The boy’s mother Sonia Sheikh was also injured in the accident and admitted to the Islami Bank Hospital at Kakrail.

Hamim and his mother slipped while getting on a bus in front of the school at around 11 am. “He was crushed under the wheel,” Dhaka Metropolitan Police additional commissioner Nurul Islam told bdnews24.com.

Police have detained the bus driver and seized the vehicle that belongs to Modhumoti Transport and runs between Mirpur and Kamlapur.

Students and guardians of the school blocked the road stopping vehicle movement from Kakrail Mosque to Kakrail roundabout for around half an hour. They lifted the blockade at around 11:45 pm when the bus was seized.

The school was closed for the day.
