B Chy against general strikes

Bikalpadhara Bangladesh president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury said his party had no relation with those who destroyed public property by enforcing general strikes and other destructive activities.

“We are opposed to any destructive activities. But we support all peaceful political programmes,” he said at a programme to mark the sixth anniversary of the political party at the Institution of Engineers in the capital on Sunday evening.

The former president said, “People have voted the present government to power with a hope for change but there is no visible change.”

“Violence and corruption have become a common phenomenon,” he said

Gonoforum president Kamal Hossain, Bangladesh Workers’ Party chief Rashed Khan Menon, Krishak-Sramik-Janata League president Bangabir Kader Siddiqui, Progressive Democratic Party chairman Ferdous Ahmed Quarishi, Awami League leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Bikalpadhara secretary Abdul Mannan and its joint secretary Mahi B Chowdhury also attended the programme.

The programme was inaugurated with the hoisting of national and party flags and through the release of white pigeons.

Kamal Hossain said “People voted for change. All have to unite for that cause.”

Mahi B Chowdhury said the country was moving towards a terrible confrontation similar to the days before the immediate past national election.

The government is speaking of building ‘digital Bangladesh’ but it is closing Facebook and newspaper, he said
