Call for practising democracy within organisations

Speakers at a seminar called on the political leaders to practice democracy within their respective organisations to bring change in political culture.

They said development was not only the growth of capital and technology but also development of the whole nation. Being a developing country, our traditional politics has always kept aside people’s participation institutionally. Participatory politics and political transparency could help in the nation’s development process, they added.

Dhaka University (DU) Political Science Alumni Association (DUPSAA) arranged the seminar on ‘Two Decades of Democracy in Bangladesh (1990-2010): Disillusionment with Practice’ at the conference hall of DU Senate Building Friday, reports BSS.

Chairman of Centre for Research Development Bangladesh Mizanur Rahman Shelley presided over the seminar, while Deputy Speaker of Parliament Shawkat Ali attended the function as the chief guest.

Among others, professors Syed Anwar Hossain, Ara Hossain and Dr Al Monsud Hasanuzzaman Shawkat spoke at the seminar.

President of DUPSAA Prof M Nazrul Islam presented a keynote paper in the seminar.
