Boy killed in Munshiganj clash

A teenage boy was killed when some youths clashed over a trivial incident during a concert organised on the occasion of Durga Puja in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj Wednesday night.

The victim Raihanur Islam, 16, was a mason from Kuchiamora village in the upazila, reports our Munshiganj correspondent.

Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sirajdikhan Police Station, said there was an injury mark on the victim’s throat but he could not confirm whether it was a bullet mark.

Police said Raihanur and his friends went to enjoy a concert organised by Syedpur Krishnakali Puja Celebration Committee on Syedpur Abdul Rahman High School premises Wednesday night.

The quarrel started when one Rajjab, 20, threw water at Raihanur at the concert around 11:00pm.

At one stage, Rajjab and his gang locked into a clash with Raihanur and his friends, leaving him (Raihanur) critically injured, the OC said.

Raihanur was declared dead when he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 12:30am Thursday, he added.

The cause of death can only be confirmed after the autopsy, the OC said.

Four of Raihan’s friends were also injured during the incident. They were given first aid.
