Iajuddin’s son held for assaulting ADUST registrar

Gulshan police Sunday evening arrested a son of former president Iajuddin Ahmed on charges of assaulting the registrar of the Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST).

Along with Imtiaj Ahmed, a founder member of the trusty board of the private university, the law enforces detained its two top officials on the same charges.

The two officials are: Sirajul Huq Chowdhury, a director, and Junayed Ahmed, a deputy director of the Panthapath campus of ADUST.

Meanwhile, Imtiaj was admitted to United Hospital under police custody after he suffered injuries as some students attacked him following a feud over the ownership of the university.

The students also beat up several journalists of different electronic media when they were grabbing video footage during the attack on Imtiaj.

Khandker Lutful Kabir, deputy commissioner of Gulshan division, told The Daily Star that Imtiaj, Sirajul Huq and Junayed were detained for assaulting ADUST register Kabir Hossain Talukder when he had gone to the house of professor Anwara Begum, former vice chancellor of ADUST and also the wife of Iajuddin, at Gulshan.
