BNP man killed in Munshiganj

An opposition BNP man was killed by alleged attack of ruling Awami League activists at Hossiandi village under Gazaria upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Faruk, son of Baten Mia, of Hossaindi village under Gazaria upazila of the district.

Some activists of ruling Awami League attacked BNP men, leaving seven activists of the opposition party injured, including Faruk Sunday.

The fatally injured succumbed to his injuries in city’s Panthapath New Model Hospital on Tuesday morning.

Police held one Mahbubul Haque for his alleged involvement in this incident.

Tension mounted in the area following the incident.

Additional police were deployed in the area to avert further untoward situation.

Tajul Islam, a supporter of BNP, filed a case with Gazaria Thana against some 25 AL activists.

Officer-in-charge of the thana M Shahidul Islam told banglanews police are conducting drives to arrest the miscreants.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy he added.
