Villagers’ clash injures 8 in Munshiganj

At least eight people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over land dispute at Char Betka village under Tangibari upazila on Friday morning.

Quoting locals, Tangibari thana sub-inspector Mossaraf Hossain told banglanews, “Some supporters of Joynal Bepari attacked supporters of Amanullah with firearms and local sharp weapons around 10:30am following a previous land dispute, leaving eight people injured of both groups.”

Of the injured, Nasir Bepari and Milon Khan were admitted to local hospital.

On information, police led by Assistant police superintendant (Sadar Circle) rushed in and took the situation under control, the SI said.

They also recovered a gun with 10 rounds of cartridges and a revolver with 6 rounds of bullets from the scene.

Later, police in a raid held 12 people from the village for their alleged involvement in the clash.

Assistant police superintendant (ASP) Tariqul Islam said, “Situation is calm now. Police forces have been deployed in the area. The process of case filing is underway in this connection.”
