Ferry services on Mawa-Kawrakandi route resumed around 4:00pm on Tuesday, after a 7 hour halt as Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities completed repair work of terminal No. 3.
Among severe traffic congestions of thousands of vehicles the smaller vehicles like private cars were allowed to move ahead of the larger ones like trucks and buses as per instruction of BIWTC.
In the face of devouring erosion at Mawa ferry terminal, ferry services on Mawa-Kawrakandi route came to a total halt since Tuesday morning as the BIWTC authorities started repairing work at terminal No. 3.
The halt came as a 120-foot deep hole developed along the terminal No. 3, the lone channel that was operative for the ferry service, reports our Munshiganj correspondent.
