A man was killed and another one injured in a gunfight between police personnel and a gang of muggers in Kunderbazar area under Tongibari upazila of the district Thursday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Police held a injured youth, Bhola, in this connection.

A police team led by Tongibari Thana Sub-Inspector Shahin chased six muggers while the mugger were fleeing after stealing two motorbikes and locked into a gunfight around 2:30pm, leaving a mugger shot, sources said.

Meanwhile, locals beat the shot mugger to death.

Police sent the body to Tongibari Upazila Heath Complex for autopsy.

Munshiganj police superintendent M Shahabuddin Khan BPM confirmed the matter to banglanews.
