An elderly man who was injured in a clash between the residents of two villages in Gazaria upazila on Sunday died at Bhaberchar health complex on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Sharafat Ali, 70, son of late Toyab Ali Munshi of Kalipura Chardegri village of the upazila.

The victim’s son, Sobhan, said three people, including Sharafat Ali, sustained serious injuries in the clash that took place between the residents of Shashthi Tala and Kalipura Chardegri villages over playing a friendly cricket match at a field of Jashaitala Intersection on Sunday.

The injured were admitted to the health complex where Sharafat succumbed to his injuries at night.

Police sent the body to General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Gazaria thana OC Shahidul Islam said additional police have been deployed as tension heightened in the area. Police also arrested one Ratan in this connection.
