President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao on Sunday said there is no scope for the bank to provide technical assistance for the much-hyped Padma Bridge as it has not funded the project.
While talking to reporters after a meeting with Finance Minister AMA Muhith at his office, the ADB boss, however, said the financial assistance for Bangladesh will continue as the image of Bangladesh is very good abroad.
Terming Bangladesh an important partner of the ADB in the Asia-Pacific region, Takehiko said the power of ADB mission in Bangladesh has been enhanced. “The ADB country director in Bangladesh will approve small projects in Bangladesh.” He also advised the Bangladesh government to increase its efficiency, according to a news agency.
