A local leader of the ruling Awami League has been attacked in Baluchar union under Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj district on Friday morning.

The attackers also vandalised the office and house of Hossain Bhandari, general secretary, Awami League, of Ward No 5 under Baluchar Union.

Locals said a gang led by Sukur Ali and Noor Baul allegedly made the attack on Hossain Bhandari following an altercation on Thursday evening in an Iftar programme with them out of previous enmity.

On Friday morning, when Hossain Bhandari took shelter in the party office in face of the attack, the miscreants ran after him and also vandalised the party office.

Later, they vandalized Hossain’s house.

Confirming the incident, OC Abul Bashar of Sirajdikhan police station said the people led by Shukur Ali vandalised and looted the house of Hossain Bhandari.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

The process of filing a case regarding the incident was underway till filing the report.
