Drama of rescued alive for Tk 20,000!

pinakSaroA man was caught red-handed by staging a drama of remaining alive five days after the capsize of Pinak-6 passenger launch in the river Padma near Mawa Ghat in Munshiganj.

He was identified as Sarwar, 25.

Sarwar claimed that he staged the drama being instigated by a satellite television cameraman who offered him Tk 20,000 and allured him showing on the television.

Police detained the man following his fake drama was exposed to them. He was being interrogated under police custody at the control room set up at Mawa Ghat on Friday afternoon.

Mawa police control room in-charge and Srinagar circle ASP Mia Kutubur Rahman said the fake drama was staged by Sarwar after an electronic media staff allured him of offering Tk 20,000 and showing him on television.

At first, he said he was recovered from a char of the river Padma.

Sarwar introduced himself to police as the son of late Lutfar Howlader of village Pacchar under Shibchar Police Station in Madaripur. It was learned later that his actual name is Russel, 20. His father’s name is Alauddin Sardar and he hailed from Kukrail in Madaripur.

ASP Mia Kutubur Rahman also said the uneducated Russel made the drama being allured for the money. The youth is also drug addicted.

He said police are trying to find out the television staff who instigated Russel in staging the drama.
