Padma devours 100 homesteads in Louhajang

laupadma1At least, over 100 homesteads and 40 shops were devoured by the river Padma in villages Kumarbhogh and Khoria under Louhajang upazila of the district during the last few days.

Much of the Kumarbhogh union has already been devoured by the river.
In such a situation, the inhabitants of the erosion-affected areas have been shifting their homesteads and business establishments to other places.

The Padma river has already eroded a vast area of Louhajang since the beginning of the rainy season this year. The erosion by the river Padma has again started in full swing following the onrush of water from the upstream and strong current in the river.

The river erosion has been continuing over the last one and a half decades in Louhajang. The villagers living on the bank of river Padma have become the victims of the erosion.
