A murder case accused has been caught red handed while trying to flee from police custody of Tongibari police station in Munshiganj.
Abdul Malek, officer-in-charge of Tongibari police station, said: “Akbar Ali, 20, a murder case accused was caught red handed on Monday night by an on-duty constable while he was trying to escape from police custody by digging a tunnel.”
“Afterward, he was shifted to under surveillance in the police station from the custody,” he added.
The accused was sent to district Judicial Magistrate Court seeking seven days remand in police custody,” the official said.
Early Monday, police arrested the accused from Bajrayogini area of the upazila.
Ali was accused for killing an auto-rickshaw driver Md Masud Ahmed Sagor (30) and snatching his auto-rickshaw on Saturday night.
