The body of a local Juba League leader in Munshiganj was recovered on Friday a day after he had gone missing, police say.
The victim was identified as Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, 40, cultural affairs secretary of Juba League’s Louhajang Upazila unit and a resident of the Upazila’s Kazir Pagla area.
Munshiganj district police super Mia Kutubur Rahman said the locals had found the body in a field near Chitakhela area. On information, the police recovered the body and sent it to hospital for autopsy. He was tied up before being killed.
Earlier on Thursday afternoon three masks used by his kidnappers and his blood-stained clothes were recovered from another field in the same village.
Locals claimed unidentified assailants abducted Rafiq on Thursday morning from near his house on his way to Dhaka.
