A local Jubo League activist was slaughtered in Baghra Bazar area of Sreenagar upazila in Munshiganj on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Shamsul Haque Shamsu Pathan, 22, son of late Solaiman alias Babu Pathan of Baghra village.

Police said locals found the slaughtered body of Shamsu lying on the bank of a pond behind a Puja Mandap in the bazaar area around 8pm and informed police.

Later, the law enforces recovered the body and sent it to hospital for post mortem.

Locals said they saw the Jubo League man at Baghra cattle market just 20 minute before he was found dead.

Police said miscreants slaughtered Shamsu and later cut off the tendon of his right leg. The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.

Officer-in-charge of Sreenagar Police Station Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman said they were trying to arrest the killers.
