Two women among four killed in Munshiganj

dead4Four people including two women were killed in Munshiganj during the Eid holidays. Of them, one was killed in Munshiganj town while three were killed in Gazaria.

Muktarpur Riverine Police Outpost sub-inspector Mosharraf Hossain said the body of a 50-year-old unidentified woman was found floating of the Khal Kalidas Sagar, a tributary of the river Dhaleshwari, at Farazighat area under North Islampur at about 11.30am on Wednesday.

It was anticipated that the body of the woman reached the Farazighat area from somewhere else. The body was sent to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue.

Meanwhile, Gazaria Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique said they recovered the body of one Sufia Begum, 50, of Bhaberchar College Road area under Gazaria upazila at about 7.30am on Tuesday. She was probably strangled at the previous night. Sufia Begum was the wife of late Hazrat Ali of the area. Police arrested two suspects–Akram Hossain, 23, and Shafiuddin, 47–in connection with the murder.

Bhaberchar Highway Police Outpost members recovered the body of Rezaul, a 25-year-old youth, from Old Baushia area under Gazaria upazila on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the morning on October 5 last. Rezaul was the son of one Nuru Mia of Rangpur.

The OC further said Mansur Ali Prodhan, a 65-year-old man was killed during a violent clash between Chhatra League and Jubo League at village Tetoitola under Gazaria upazila at about 9pm on October 4 last. He was the uncle of Shamsuddin Prodhan, a local Awami League leader, who was also killed earlier.
