Father of a daughter signed written agreement not to arrange early marriages after police foiled such a bid at Mijikandi village under Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.

Sub-inspector (SI) of Sadar Police Station Saikat Hossain said guardians of a class ten schoolgirl Asma Akter arranged marriage with Md Dalim Miji, 24, son of Abdul Hakim Miji of the same village on Friday afternoon. Being informed, Sadar upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Sharaban Tohura went to the bride’s house at 4:30pm and stopped the marriage and bound the guardians to sign a written agreement not to arrange early marriage in future.
