Louhajang murder: Five get life sentence

A Munshiganj court has sentenced five people to life-time imprisonment in Abdur Rahman Sikder killing case. The convicts are Billal, 32, Moti Mal, 45, Abdul Hannan Mal, 35, Abdur Rahman, 30 and Manik Mal, 40 of village Kolkata under Louhajang upazila. Of them, Manik Lal has been absconding, while the rest four are in jail custody.

Additional District and Session Judge Shahjahan Kabir pronounced the verdict in the presence of the convicts at about 12.30pm on Wednesday.

According to the case statement, the convicts hacked one Abdur Rahman Sikder of villaga Kolkata under Louhajang upazila at about 2am on June 24 in 2009 in a sequel to previous enmity over land property. Critically injured Abdur Rahman Sikder was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on that night, but he died on June 28 of the same year while underwent treatment.

Later, his son Al-Amin Sikder filed a murder case with Louhajang Police Station. Finally, the judge pronounced the verdict on Wednesday.
