At least 10 people were injured, including four by bullets, in a clash between two rival groups of Awami League at Baghaiyakandi in Gazaria upazila on Sunday.
The feuding groups also vandalized some shops of a local market during the clash.
Gazaria thana OC Ferdous Hasan said supporters of district AL vice president and former chairman of Imampur UP Abdus Sattar and local AL activist Babu Miazi locked into a clash at about 4pm over sand filing in a land.
Four people including Babu Miazi and his wife Razia Begum received bullet wounds when someone fired gunshots during the clash.
Bullet-hit Babu Miazi, 27, was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital and his wife Razia Begum, 25, to local health complex. The other injured people were admitted to local clinics.
Additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid further violence.
A tense situation has been prevailing in the area.
