20 injured at Chardumuria in Munshiganj clash

At least 20 people were injured and more than one hundred cocktails were blasted in a rival clash at Chardumuria village under Mollakandi union in Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Thursday night.

Local sources said under the auspices of one group, supporter of district Awami League (AL) president Shah Alam Mallik led by ward no. 5 member Kamal Hossain, brother of Mollakandi union AL president Farhad Khan, an illegal housie game and drug trade were started at Chardumuria village recently.

Regarding this, on Thursday at about 8:30pm, another group comprising Oliullah, Babul and Tofazzal tried to stop the illegal activities, which triggered a clash between the groups leaving 20 people of both groups injured. The injured are being treated secretly to avoid police arrest.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Munshiganj Sadar police station Abul Khair Fakir said on information police went to the spot at about 11pm, but the rioters fled from the scene. Additional police were deployed in the village to avoid any untoward situation. If anybody files case police will take action, added the OC.
