Angry people block road, vandalise vehicles
Angered by a road accident that killed a school student, local people blockade the Dhaka-Mawa Highway and vandalized over 100 vehicles on Saturday.

Witnesses said, a private car ran over Raju, 10, a class IV student of Somospur Primary School, at Uttar Medinimondon in Louhajang upazila at 12 noon.

Raju, alongwith his brother Siam, 12, and father was waiting on the roadside to cross the road when the Mawa-bound car from Dhaka ran over them, leaving the siblings seriously injured. Raju died on way to Mitford Hospital in Dhaka.

Soon after, the accident, local people caught the car driver, put up barricade on the road setting ablaze tyre and vandalized over 100 vehicles.

Traffic on the highway remained suspended for two-and-a-half hours.
