‘Bat Tola Sadhusangha 1419’ begins

In memory of mystic bard Lalon Shah, who through his timeless works preached the philosophy of spirituality, secularism and humanism, ‘Lalon Shah Bat Tola Sadhusangha 1419’, a two-day annual gathering of Lalon devotees, began on Thursday.

Like every year, thousands of Lalon-enthusiasts from home and abroad thronged under the old banyan tree to attend the programme at Sirajdikhan Maatbar Bari at Doshar Para of Takerhat, Munshiganj.

The two-day non-stop programme features some formal rituals of Lalon devotees, discussion, solo and group renditions of Lalon Sangeet. Folk artistes and Lalon-enthusiasts from across the country, especially from Dhaka, Kustia, Meherpur and Mushiganj, are participating in the programme. Lalon-fans from Japan and India are also enjoying the spiritual musical programme.

Earlier, local MP Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh, and Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Azizul Alam graced the opening programme as special guests.

Renowned Lalon Sangeet singer Farida Parveen, who is famous for popularising the genre in metro-life, will perform tonight, the concluding day of the event.

Apart from her, Nahir Shah, Rajjak Baul, Tuntun Baul, Takbir Hossain Shah, Chhoto Rab Fakir and Rinku, among others, are the featured artistes of the two-day musical programme.

The programme, which is open to all, will conclude today.
