A woman was allegedly strangled by her husband at Bejgaon area in Sreenagar upazila on Friday night. The dead Umme Habiba Lopa, 18, was the wife of Azim Sheikh, 25.

The victim’s father Osman Sheikh alleged that Lopa and Azim got married on April, 28, 2014. After then, Azim used to torched Lopa for money.

Officer-in-charge Mahabubur Rahman of Sreenagar Police Station said, police recovered the body on Saturday morning and sent it to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue.

Police suspect Lopa might have been killed any time at night.

Azim is absconding after the incident.
