Police recovered the body of an old man from his newly-constructed three-storey building at Kholamora under Keraniganj in Dhaka on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam Sayed, 60, of Chitcoat in Sirajdikhan in Munshiganj. The victim’s son, Imdadul Islam, said his father had started living in their three-storey building at Block-B on the Road 6 on Thursday night after its construction was completed recently.
Imdadul came to the house on Friday afternoon as his father’s mobile phone had been found switched off since Thursday night and found his body lying in a bathroom of the house. Imdadul alleged that some local terrorists, who had earlier demanded Tk 10 lakh from them as toll while constructing the building, might have strangled his father for refusal to pay the money.
Subinspector Saiduzzaman of Keraniganj Model Police Station said they recovered the body that bore several injury marks in the neck and mouth and sent it to hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination. Imdadul filed a murder case with the police station.
