A factory of fake drugs has been busted and 10 lakh 20 thousand pieces of capsule and tablet have been seized in Tongibari in Munshiganj on Monday afternoon. A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Asif Anam Siddiqi sealed the factory and sentenced one caretaker Md. Saidur, 26 to six months. Before that, a team of six members led by Prof. A B M Faruq of Dhaka University identified the factory as a production house of counterfeit drugs.

Rapid Action Battellion(RAB)-11 Assistant Director Shah Shibli Sadik confirmed the news. He said, “RAB-11 conducted a drive at a house of ex-UP Chairman late Abdul Ohab at Paikpara of Abullahpur on Monday afternoon. Abdul Ohab’s son Humayun Kabir Bepari was running this factory of counterfeit drugs named Global Laboratory Ltd.”

He also said, “Sensing the drive, the owner and other employees managed to flee the scene but we could hold the caretaker. A huge number of Amoxicillin (500 mg) and other tablets were seized. Later on, at 6.00pm the drugs were destroyed at the presence of the Magistrate.”
“Caretaker Md. Saidur was sentenced six months,” he informed.
