A three-and-a-half-year-old girl has been raped by a teenage boy in the district’s Srinagar. The accused, Sajib, 16, son of Altab Ali, has been arrested immediately after the victim’s mother filed a rape case on Wednesday night.

According to the mother of the victim, Sajib called her daughter to his house to watch television together at around 10:30am Wednesday.

“At one stage of watching TV, Sajib raped my daughter as no one else was there. Hearing the cry of the baby, locals rushed in and rescued her in critical condition.”

But they failed to catch Sajib as he fled the scene immediately.

The victim has been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex, from where she was referred to the OCC center of Munshiganj General Hospital.

On Wednesday evening, the child’s father went to Srinagar police station to file a written complaint in this connection.

But local influential people forced him to escape, claimed the mother of the victim.

“Later, I filed a rape case at night.”

When contacted, OC Mujibur Rahman said: “We have arrested the accused and the investigation is underway.”
