A man was allegedly strangulated to death by his wife at Mathpara area of the district town on Saturday midnight. The dead was identified as Nazimuddin Dewan, 45.

Police, however, arrested Nazimuddin’s wife Nila Begum, 30, and his mother in-law Shahanur Begum in connection with the killing.

The victim’s brother Jahangir Hossain said, Nila and her husband locked into an altercation over an issue of extra-marital affairs around 10pm.

Later, Nila strangled her husband when Nazimuddin was asleep.

Sadar Thana SI Sheikh Sadi confirmed the news.
