WB fails to prove corruption in Padma Bridge: Muhith

World Bank failed to prove their allegation on corruption in Padma Bridge project, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said at parliament on Monday while replying a question from treasury bench MP Waresat Hossain Belal.

Muhith said, may be the then officials of World Bank brought the allegation of corruption after being influenced by someone. But now they failed to prove the allegation. A case remains active in a Canada court over Padma Bridge issue. World Bank provided some information to verify the allegation, but court wants more documents.

“But World Bank now trying to get impunity from the issue without providing required information,” Muhith said.

Replying to another question from M Abdul Latif, Muhith said, NBR going to make a channel to collect home rent. Finance minister also said, there is no scope to publish the list of militant-related institutions according to law.

Earlier, the parliament resumes on Monday at 4.30pm, with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Choudhury in chair, according to a news agency. –
