The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) Tuesday approved five development projects including land acquisition, rehabilitation and environmental impact measurement project for establishing 300-400 MW Supercritical Coal Based Power Plant in Gazaria and Sadar upazila of Munshiganj, with an outlay of Taka 987.80 crore.
The approval came at the meeting of the ECNEC held in the NEC conference room in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
“Land acquisition, rehabilitation and environmental impact measurement project for establishing 300-400 MW Supercritical Coal Based Power Plant in Munshiganj has been approved with emphasis on diversification of using power under power system master plan for power sector development,” Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal told newsmen after the meeting.
He said Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB) will implement the project at a cost of Taka 283.29 crore by June 2018.
