People suffer for severe load-shedding in Munshiganj

Around 3 lakh customers of Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS) here have been directly hit by severe load-shedding throughout the district during the last several days.

As a result, production at different industries is facing setback and water crisis has broken out in two municipalities – Munshiganj and Mirkadim, under Sadar upazila. The worst sufferers are the students who are facing problems in preparing their lessons.

Besides, activities at different hospitals are being hampered depriving people of necessary healthcare facilities.
In total 24 hours, electricity is available only for 8 to 9 hours.

Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Munshiganj PBS Monowar Morshed said, they have 56,000 customers in Sadar upazila and the total demand of electricity is 27 megawatts, but only 4 to 5 mw are being supplied.

DGM (Technology) of Munshiganj PBS Mohammad Omar Ali said, there are around 3 lakh customers of PBS in the entire district and the total demand is 127 mw, but only 30 to 60 mw are available.

The power outage is happening due to technical fault at Haripur Plant, the DGM added.
