The local trader was fatally injured in a turf war in August at Sirajdikhan
A Munshiganj court has sent to jail 35 people who have been arrested in a case filed over the murder of a businessman named Takbir Hossain Molla in Sirajdikhan upazila.
Judge of Cognizance Court 2 Pashupati Biswas rejected their bail petitions and sent them to jail after they surrendered at his court around 12:30pm on Thursday, said the court’s General Recording Officer Md Jahangir Hossain.
According to case details, followers of Nuru Baul and Nasir Member had clashed at Mollakandi village of the upazila’s Balurchar union over establishing dominance on August 8. Three including Takbir was left injured.
Both groups had also clashed with police and vandalized their vehicles when they went there to disperse the warring locals.
Takbir, 35, who was a supporter of Nasir, died later while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.
Sirajdikhan police filed the case against 200 unidentified people, including 58 from both groups, over the attack on police and vandalism. Later, 15 members of both groups were arrested and produced in court.
Over the same incident, Nasir’s follower Md Awlad Hossain also filed another case against more than 120 people at Sirajdikhan police station.
Later, Nuru’s follower Md Ekram filed another case against more than 80 people at the same station.
