A Hakim Bikrampuri’s 32nd death anniv

Today is the 32nd death anniversary of Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri, former member of the undivided Bengal Legislative Assembly and Pakistan provincial and national assemblies.

Different organisations, including Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri Smriti Sangsad and Memorial Library and K K Government Institution, took various programmes marking the day, said a press release on Tuesday.

The programmes include Quran recitation, milad mahfil, giving stipends to the meritorious poor students, distributing cash among the poor, the release said.

Besides, KK Government Institution will hold a commemoration on July 6 on the occasion.

In his long political career, Abdul Hakim came in close contact with veteran leader AK Fazlul Haq, popularly known as Sher-e-Bangla.

He involved himself with the newspapers like Saugat, Manosi, Mohammadi, Probasi, Samyabadi and Sultan.

He was the editor of fortnightly Gramer Kotha published from Munshiganj.

Chinay Islam, Shahitto Kotha, Paner Baraj, Haraganga College Er Itihas and Prasanga Kotha were his notable literary works.
