Aftermath of the bus-microbus collision on Dhaka-Mawa highway at Sologhar in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj
Six of them died on the spot
Nine people have been killed and at least 13 others injured in a collision between a microbus and a bus on the Dhaka-Mawa Highway in the Sologhar area of the Sreenagar upazila in Munshiganj.
The deceased are Rashid Bepari, 70, Liza, 24, Tabassum, 6, Renu, 12, Keramat Bepari, 70, Mofizul Molla, 65, Tahsan, 4, and the microbus driver Billal, 40. Most of the deceased were a groom’s party travelling in the microbus.
Six of them died on the spot, two died after being taken to a local hospital while another died under treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Munshiganj Superintendent of Police Md Zaidul Alam.
Three others under treatment at two different hospitals in Dhaka are in critical condition, he added.
Hashara Highway police outpost in-charge Md Abdul Based said: “‘A Mawa-bound passenger bus of Swadhin Paribahan collided head-on with the Dhaka-bound microbus in the area around 2pm on Friday.”
A five-member probe committee under Additional District Magistrate Asma Shahin was formed to investigate the incident.
Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman Talukdar said financial support will be provided for the burial of the victims.
