8 bullet-hit in Munshiganj conflict

A clash between two groups of rivals left 14 injured in Char Kewar union under Munshiganj sadar upazila over establishing supremacy in the area on Saturday.

Of them, eight sustained bullet injuries.

Dozens of crude bombs were blasted and at least 15 houses were vandalised during the clash that took place at around 10:00am, said Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station.

The injured were Al-Amin, Rubel Khan, Robin, Nayan, Riad Khan, Qadir Khan, Faruk Khan, Ferdous Khan and others.

Al-Amin was critically injured in a bomb blast and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Police said that local influential persons Jesmin and Ali Ahmed had been at loggerheads since long over establishing supremacy in the area.

On Saturday, supporters of Ali Ahmed suddenly attacked the supporters of Jesmin in the area. Later, both the groups locked in a clash, leaving at least 14 of them injured.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said the OC.
