Parents, daughter held for ‘dumping son’s body in pond after murder’ in Munshiganj

Police arrested a married couple on charge of dumping the body of their teenage son in a pond after killing him in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj.

Md Rais Uddin, officer-in-charge of Gazaria Police Station, said a police team arrested Md Shamim Shikder, 40, Hasina Begum, 38, and their 15-year-old daughter from Hosendi Bazar area this morning.

They will be produced before the district court tomorrow, a correspondent in Munshiganj reports, quoting the OC.

During primary interrogation, all the arrestees confessed to killing the boy, Md Hasan Miah (17), said the police official.

Police recovered the decomposed body of Hasan yesterday morning 17 days after his family members allegedly killed him and dumped the body in a pond beside the house, the OC said.

The family members informed the law enforcers as a strong odour was coming out from the pond, said the OC.

OC Rais Uddin further said Hasan was a drug addict and allegedly tried to rape his 15-year-old sister at night of the incident day. Hearing her screams, Hasan’s father and mother started beating him. At one stage, he died on the spot.

Later, the family members dumped the body in a pond beside the house, said the OC.

The younger brother of slain Hasan filed the case with Gazaria Police Station, said the police official, adding that police managed to uncover the fact behind the murder after interrogating Hasan’s brother.
