Police recovered the body of a missing child from a pond near her home in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj this morning.
Humaira Akhter (9), went out of her house around 3pm yesterday and could not be found since then, reports our local correspondent quoting her family members.
Police recovered the body from the pond in Kahetara village of Kanaksar union around 10am, said Sub-Inspector (SI) of Louhajang Police Station Mohammad Mohidul Islam.
A dog pulled out a sack from the pond in which locals noticed the body and informed police, he said.
“Signs of injuries were found on the body, she might have been suffocated to death,” the SI said.
The body was sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy, he added.
