Titas to carry out more raids to snap illegal connections
Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd cut off six kilometres of illegal gas lines in a raid in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj on Tuesday.
According to Titas, the lines provided about 10,000 unauthorized gas connections. During the raid, a customer was fined Tk4,000 by a mobile court for using illegal gas connection.
Engineer Suruj Alam, deputy general manager of Titas’ Sonargaon regional office, said they started the drive from the Laskardi-Bhavanipur area of Gazaria.
They carried out the drive from 11am till the afternoon.
About six kilometres of illegal gas lines were disconnected in the Hossaindi Bazar area, Bhavanipur, Laskardi and Nazir Char village area.
“I received information that there are some more illegal gas lines in Gazaria upazila. All the lines will be cut off by carrying out operations,” said Suruj Alam.
Gazaria Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate GM Rashedul Islam said during the raid that Mohammad Ali, a resident of Laskardi village, was fined Tk4,000 for using illegal gas connection.
At that time, among others, Titas Gas Meghnaghat Zonal Marketing Office Manager Engineer Md Moniruzzaman, Gazaria police station SI Sekandar Ali and others were present.
