Railway worker dies after being entangled in mixer machine belt

A worker has died after being entangled in the ribbon of a mixer machine in Munshiganj’s Sreenagar upazila.

The incident took place at Bejgaon station area of Sreenagar on the under-construction Padma Bridge rail track around 11:00 on Monday (March 6).

According to locals, during the welding work of the railway station under construction in Bejgaon area, worker Md Mofizul (35) got tangled in the ribbon of the mixer machine. Other workers came forward and rescued him. They immediately took him to the Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead. Deceased worker Mofizul was known as a resident of Rangpur. He lived with his family in front of Alamdina Mosque in Chanbari area. He is father of two sons.

Engineer Razan, in-charge of the project, could not be reached for comment over mobile phone despite several attempts.

SI Zobair of Sreenagar Police Station said nothing was known as the body was taken to the hospital before coming to the spot after receiving the news. The details of the incident will be investigated and reported.
