BGB man killed in Bangabandhu Expressway accident

A member of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) was killed and another injured in a road accident on the Bangabandhu Expressway in Umpara area under Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj district on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sheikh Kamrul, 48, son of late Mannan Sheikh, hailed from Sonataundi area under Saltar upazila of Faridpur district.

Quoting witnesses, Srinagar Fire Service Station Warehouse inspector Md. Mahfuz Riben said Kamal along with his cousin was going to Dhaka from Faridpur. On the way, when they reached in Umpara area, his cousin hit a roadside railing when its driver lost control over the steering of the bike, leaving Sheikh Kamal dead on the spot and another critically injured.

The injured was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, he said.

Legal action would be taken in this regard, the fire service official added.
