Police arrested a young man in a case filed over raping an 11-year-old girl at Sadar upazila in Munshiganj district on Tuesday afternoon.

The arrested is Noyon Matbar, 20, a resident of Dewankandi Asharyan Project under Shilai union in the upazila.

According to the case statement, Noyon abducted the girl and took her to an isolated place on Monday evening where he violated the victim.

On Tuesday noon, the girl was sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for medical attention, said Aminul Islam officer-in-charge of Munshiganj Sadar Police.

Later, the girl’s grandmother filed a written complaint with the police station accusing Nayan.

“The accused has been sent to jail via a court order,” the OC added.
