Vehicular movement halts on Dhk-Ctg highway as locals stage demo demanding gas supply

Vehicular movement on Dhaka-Chattagram highway remained suspended for one and half hours on Tuesday as local people put up barricades on the highway at Dari Baushia in Gazaria upazila demanding gas supply.

Local people took to the street on Dhaka-Chattagram highway at Dari Baushia as the Titas gas authorities came in the area around 12:30 pm to disconnect illegal gas supply.

A nine-kilometer long tailback was created on both sides of the highway following the demonstration, causing immense suffering to the commuters.

Later, Gazaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kohinur Akter, Munshiganj Sada-Gazaria circle Additional Superintendent Khairul Hasan and Munshiganj Executive Magistrate Abdul Al Faruk rushed to the spot and assured them of taking steps in this regard.

Vehicular movement came to normal around 2 pm as the local people left the highway following assurance of local administration.
