Mozammel Hossain Sajal/Shakib Ahmed: Police on Wednesday recovered the body of a missing Singapore expatriate three days after his disappearance.
The body was found tied up and placed in a sack, floating in a canal in the Gadhighat area of Shyamsiddhi Union in Srinagar Upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
Ramjan Munshi, 40, son of Siraj Munshi, was reportedly last seen leaving his home on Monday (November 25) to go shopping. After he went missing, his family attempted to contact him several times via phone but received no response. As a result, they filed a written complaint with the Srinagar Police Station, requesting help in locating him.
Locals noticed a foul odor emanating from the Sixteenth Ghar canal in the morning. Upon investigation, they discovered the sack containing the body and immediately notified the police.
Law enforcers arrived at the scene, recovered the body and later informed the family. After identification, the family confirmed the body to be that of Ramjan.
The family has claimed that he was murdered and his body was dumped in the canal to hide the evidence.
Srinagar Police Station officer-in-charge Kaium Uddin Chowdhury, confirmed that the body had been sent for autopsy at Munshiganj General Hospital. Following legal procedures, the body will be handed over to the family.
He assured that a thorough investigation would be carried out and those responsible for the murder would be identified and brought to justice.
