A 13-year-old boy lost his right wrist in an explosion at South Islampur in Munshiganj today. The victim is Sajib Mia, son of Raju Sheikh, of Paikpara in Narayanganj.

Sajib Dey, inspector (investigation) of Sadar Police Station, said Sajib found a ball-like object in garbage. When he tried to pick it up, it exploded, leaving his hand severed from his wrist.

He was taken to the Munshiganj 250-bed General Hospital from where he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Sajib also sustained injuries in his left hand and abdomen.

Police are investigating the incident, he said.
