14-year-old boy in critical condition at DMCH; police launch special drive to detain suspect
A madrasa teacher allegedly attempted to rape a 14-year-old student before slashing his throat with a knife when the boy resisted, leaving the victim in critical condition, police said.
The incident occurred around noon today at an isolated spot in the Pashchim Sonarang area under Sonarang union of Tongibari upazila in Munshiganj. The accused has been on the run since the attack.

The accused, Hafez Md Lokman Hossain, 26, is from Char Shashibhushan area under Charfesson upazila in Bhola, and serves as imam of Sonarang Old Jame Mosque and a teacher at Khilpara Sunnatul Madina Madrasa in the same locality.
The victim is a student at that madrasa.
Quoting locals, Shamim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Tongibari Police Station, said Lokman allegedly took the student to an isolated location and attempted to rape him.
When the boy resisted, Lokman slashed his throat with a knife, the OC added.
Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rushed to the scene, prompting the attacker to flee.
Locals found the blood-soaked boy and initially brought him to Tongibari Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, the attending physician referred him urgently to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition.
OC Shamim said a special drive was underway to detain Lokman.
