Inter-school art competition at Pakistan High Commission

Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka in collaboration with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organised the first Inter-School “Dosti” Art Competition on the theme, “Climate Change — Need for Environment Protection” recently. The prize distribution ceremony was held at the seminar hall of Pakistan High Commission in Gulshan on July 12.

Twenty-seven students of fourteen schools from across the country participated in the competition. The participating schools were Memon Grammar School, Chittagong; S.V. Government Girls High School, Kishorganj; Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, Dhaka; Abeda Khanum Girls High School, Karotia; Rani Dayamoyee High School, Rangamati; Bashirunnesa High School, Munshiganj; H.M. Institution School & College, Tangail; Kandania High School, Mymensingh; Chittagong Grammar School; M.N. Academy, Faridpur; Shamsunnahar-Osman Gani Shikkha Niketan, Kishoreganj; Ansaruddin High School, Faridpur; Khalia High School, Magura and M.M. Ispahani Public School & College, Chittagong. The artworks featured scenic beauty, riverine life, deforestation, moonlit night, sailing boats and others.

In the preliminary stage, each participating school held in-house competitions and sent three best artworks to the Pakistan High Commission. In the second phase, two entries from each school were selected by a jury for the final round. The jury included artists Jamal Ahmed and Sheikh Afzal. Three winners were selected from the final round. They are: Farzana Akhter Popi from S.V. Govt. Girls High School (first), Iffat Jarin of Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, Dhaka and Bristy Sikdar of Chittagong Grammar School (third).

At the prize distribution ceremony, the Pakistani High Commissioner Alamgir Babar was present as chief guest, while special guests were Kamal Lohani, director general, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Major (Rtd) Abdul Mannan, chairman, BanglaLion Communication Ltd. The dignitaries handed prizes among the winners. The event was sponsored by BanglaLion Communication Ltd.
