PBL sponsored cancer awareness magazine unveiled

The Awareness Magazine “Cancer Niyontron O Protirodh Barta” has been unveiled recently, which was enriched with various useful and thought provoking information about cancer, ways and means of controlling and preventing the disease known to be dead even a decade ago.

The magazine is published by CDRB (Centre for Development Research, Bangladesh) with generous assistance of Pubali Bank Ltd (PBL).

The unveiling ceremony was held at the bank auditorium presided over by Dr. Mizanur Rahman Shelley, Chairman of CDRB and the Cancer Care Programme.

Mahbubul Alam, Editor of The Independent and also former adviser of the caretaker government, Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder MP, Chairman of Pubali Bank Ltd., Directors Wahidur Rahman, Ahmed Shafi Chowdhury, M. Faizur Rahman, Alternate Director Kabiruzzaman Yakub, Managing Director of Pubali Bank Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, A.K. Shamsuddin Khan and Mrs. Fawzia Khan of A.K. Khan Foundation, Dr. Maswoodur Rahman Prince, CEO, Cancer Care Programme of the Centre for Development Research, Bangladesh (CDRB), Dr. Bimalangshu R. Dey, Asstt, Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Tanvir Rakib, the International Coordinator of the CCP and Enayet Karim, Executive Director of CDRB, among others, addressed the function.

Speakers at launching ceremony of the magazine emphasized the need for creating mass awareness changing lifestyle and adopting healthy nutritional habit and stop tobacco use for control and prevention of cancer.

At the eve of such auspicious occasion the guests were participated a discussion on “Improvement of nursing profession and image”. While the speaker regretted the plight of the nursing profession and its low profile, they urged all concerned to work sincerely to improve the overall situation.

The visiting activities suggested various corrective measures and expressed their readiness to help and co-operate with the Bangladesh professionals in all possible way.
